Karrara

Karrara

Problem:

Rocks and carry back debris were falling from an overhead conveyor and damaging the chillers for the HPGE crusher below at the Karara mine site. The repairs and downtime of the radiator were excessive, and a solution was needed to stop the falling rocks damaging the equipment.

Karara commissioned Conquest Group and our competitors to design a suitable shelter.

Solution:

Working with in the design constraint of an existing structure Conquest Group designed a 9 x 11 metre shelter with an angled aluminium roof so the rocks, debris & dirt would slide off into a box gutter and into 2 x 300mm downpipes. A stainless steel washdown dribble bar is installed at the top to provide easy & safe washdown. The existing roof had to be removed and the new structure had to be installed in a 72 hour shutdown, the structure was designed to be assembled on the ground and lifted into place with one lift.

While it was a custom design and build, Conquest Group had made similar structures before. The competitors were unable to come up with a solution.
